(Pic above) "Twenty of us went on the tour with Fernando and he was fun from start to finish. He welcomed us with bottled water and garlands of flowers and we travelled in a good quality airconditioned mini bus. The fun started right from the jetty despite the town being full of trucks ready to block the streets through an industrial dispute. The itinerary had to be changed and we were not able to have dinner at Fernando's house, however we were taken to a very nice French restaurant. We were with Fernando for 4hrs and he was very knowledgeable about the area. He was always aware that we needed to be back at the ship by a certain time. I have no hesitation in recommending Fernandos Tours as we had a fantastic time." Probus Tour Australia

Here are some other extracts from Trip Advisor:

'Fernando is a very committed, funny and knowledgeable tour guide, who loves his work, and is extremely passionate about his culture and sharing it with other people. He showed us sites that we otherwise wouldn't have seen.'
Port Macquarie Wanderers, Australia

'Fernando managed to show us a remarkable amount in such a short time. We definitely went to places and did things that the regular tours miss. Certainly a far better option than doing the shore excursion provided by the cruise.'
Pete & Claire, Canberra Australia
'We left something behind by accident and Fernando went over and above to return it to us the following day. An unforgettable experience that you must not miss.'
SB, Darwin Australia

'Fernando made my son and daughter a traditional present made from palm leaves. We were so fortunate to have shared such a special night with Fernando and his lovely family.'
Catherine, South Australia

'Fernando is amazing! I do not have a bad word to say, seriously. You will not have any nasty surprises, or any kind of bad experience, this I promise! To watch him cut open a coconut, where I drank the fresh coconut juice and tasted fresh coconut was amazing. And when it was time to leave I felt sad. But he sang us a song on his guitar, which had us smiling. Fernando has so much character and charisma. I will truly treasure this experience, and all the memories, forever.'

'We had a scrumptious home cooked lunch accompanied by local breads, cheese, fruit and French pastries and cakes. All washed down with some local beers and wines included in the deal. What a day!!! As he's an islander himself we also got to see and learn about a lot of the customs and background of their way of life now and how things were for him growing up. This tour is highly recommended by all of us that were on the tour that day.'
Sheryl M, Geelong, Australia

'During a recent family vacation our pre-arranged transport had completely forgotten about our pick-up! Thankfully for us Fernando was at the International Airport and he saved the day! He was super helpful, very kind and filled us in on the local culture while safely transporting us to our hotel. He was the perfect introduction to a lovely island. He had me in fits of laughter while returning us to the airport - affordably, on-time and with good humour. It was a delight to meet an operator who truly loves what he does.'

'One of the most fantastic tours I have ever taken. Fernando was extremely friendly and spoke amazing English. It was less like a tour and more like being shown around by a family friend.  He can tailor his tour for any time limit and will show you parts of the island that you would never see on a cruise tour.'

'We had booked a tour with Fernando after reading his rave reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. Due to the poor weather Fernando took us back to his house where his beautiful family had prepared an absolute feast for our lunch! Local cuisine, a selection of cheeses, fresh fruits and pastries...washed down with our choice of local beverage. We thoroughly enjoyed the day!

'If we had spent the day with Fernando on our first day, we would have not wasted our first day trying to piece together an activity itinerary. Tourist information centre was not informative and their brochures did not explain what tours were available, schedules or cost. Fernando knew it all. I would highly recommend exploring the cultural center with Fernando. He provides the stories, roles of the chief, and the traditions that you just would not get doing it unguided.
To be welcomed into his home to meet his beautiful wife and baby son was unprecedented in my travels so far, being served a traditional meal with wonderful conversation and humor was the highlight. Our recommendations could not do justice to the experience.

'Fernando is one of the most enthusiastic and personable tour guides we have ever met.
Categorising Fernando simply as a tour guide is grossly under-selling the services this unique character provides. He becomes part of your holiday experience - someone who will put a smile on your face as you explore hidden places that you get the impression only Fernando knows about. He is charming, good mannered, punctual, funny and comfortable to be around. After spending several days in his company, including long drives up the west coast, when he left us at Tontouta airport for the trip home, we realised we had made a new and reliable friend in a destination which we visit as frequently as we can.
Cruise ship passengers who traditionally get only fleeting views of downtown Noumea and therefore all too often have a jaundiced view of the city's attractions, would be doing themselves a big favour by discovering the real Noumea and its wonderful lagoon and beaches with Fernando.'

'Fernando was very informative, funny with a great sense of humor and very fluent in French and English. He was on time and also very professional. Our group had a great time in Noumea and we thanked Fernando for that. Another thing we enjoyed was visiting a local bakery that makes the most fantastic French bread. He really went out of his way to accommodate our group and we will never forget Fernando for his dedication and excellent service. I would say two thumbs up for Fernando!

Here's what they say:

"I read outstanding reviews of Fernando on trip adviser and booked him for a day tour for our family group of 10, while visiting Noumea on a cruise. It was a highlight of our holiday.
From the moment we met Fernando, his effervescent personality and charisma shone through. He taught us about the history and culture of his island, we visited the museum, local lookouts, a patisserie and enjoyed many photos with Fernando and his trademark glasses. A particularly special moment was when he took us to his home, where the kids climbed his huge lychee tree and picked the fruit which tasted amazing. We then went to a beautiful beach where his wife Soana and son Lorenzo met us. His family had created a beautiful lunch for us by the beach, nothing was too much trouble. His passion and enthusiasm to show his guests an exceptional day was unsurpassed. I cannot recommend Fernando highly enough We made a special friend and have wonderful memories of Noumea. See you next time Fernando." Visitor from Geelong Australia.

'We had a very special time with Fernando, showing us the sights of Noumea in his comfortable van. He allows time for photos, he has incredible knowledge and is so proud of Noumea. Then to top it off amazing refreshments and food at Kuendu beach to watch the sunset. What could be more perfect, for the three hours we had off the ship. We would recommend a tour with Fernando. Thank you so much for the afternoon memories' – party from Auckland, New Zealand.
