North Province to Hienghène known as the Cradle of the Kanak soul. Coral forests and black-stone cliffs in the middle of the lagoon, impressive waterfalls and lush vegetation

The tour

This a private tour conducted by Fernando Tourisme to explore the wonders of the North Province, as far as Hienghene, known as the Cradle of the Kanak soul. Coral forests and black-stone cliffs in the middle of the lagoon, impressive waterfalls and lush vegetation are the region’s main features, along with Kanak villages that can be visited. Along the drive north are little villages, thatched roof hotels on secluded beaches and a more casual way of life than in Noumea. Itineraries are worked out in advance, to suit your requirements.
Two days is a minimum tour, but more can be negotiated with Fernando Tourisme.

Being a sub-tropical island (on the Tropic of Capricorn), rainy days and overcase skies can happen. However, Fernando Tourisme doesn’t let a little water spoil a day out. Each tour carries umbrellas, and lunches can be held under cover. There’s plenty to see and do, even in the rain. If, however, Fernando Tourisme deems the weather in the South Province is too poor for reasonable enjoyment of the countryside, you will be advised and Fernando Tourisme will do their best to work out another day that suits. If this is impossible because of time limits, no charge will be made against your credit card and your card information will be destroyed.

During the briefing just prior to leaving on the tour, make your concerns known. Family and staff have a range of tuna, salads and fruits which can usually solve most dietary issues.

Yes. Fernando Tourisme guides know where all the facilities are located, and toilet facilities are available in national parks and small villages along the way.

A booking is deemed to be confirmed by the visitor only when credit card details are provided on the tour booking form.  Once received, Fernando Tourisme will send you an email acknowledging the receipt of the booking and confirming that you will be on the tour. Should weather or any other unforeseen circumstance occur prior to the tour, an email will be sent to you with further information.

Yes.  Fernando Tourisme will always honour the prices agreed to at the time of booking, regardless of any price changes that might occur any time after the booking is made.

Fernando Tourisme’s policy is that Fernando leads all exclusive or private tours. Having said that, even Fernando can be incapacitated, and in that event, he will let you know. Be assured that Team Fernando includes hand-picked tour guides like George (see his photo on the front page of this website), so every tour will always have the best and most knowledgeable person available.

This tour lends itself to smaller parties of eight or less, with a minimum of four required for the booking. However, if more bookings than the capacity of the 8-seater Mercedes minibus are received, additional transport is called in, or in the event of a very large party, larger coaches are used. Fernando Tourisme has a team of trusted tour guides, ensuring that every tour, regardless of its size, is given as personal a service as possible.

Just wear comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. This is a sub-tropical country so a sun screen is recommended for those who may be affected by the sun.

For the elderly or those with walking difficulties, there are plenty of flat-ground walks, so bring your walking aids by all means.
