The drive to the Fort from Noumea takes about one and a half hours. Expect a minimum of two hours at the Fort, and you are then taken to the Banu Hotel in the small town of La Foa for a light lunch, which is included in the tour price. This hotel is famous for its bar ceiling absolutely full of hats of all countries and sizes, some dating back to the Pacific war years when American and allied troops were stationed in New Caledonia.
